Call the cops
SNAP's Barbara Blaine wants Cardinal George to visit the two parishes that lost pastors this week to apparently credible sex-abuse charges and "emphatically urge victims and witnesses to call the police and prosecutors." However, he is caught between the devil and the deep blue sea on this one, as shepherd of his flock (parishioners) and as father figure to the priests under his domain. He can't look as if he's one more than the other. Which leaves lay folk weeping and gnashing their teeth. Never has there been a clearer case of laity vs. clergy, or at least maybe never. Such a mess.
